An Expression of Wish is a vital document that lets you specify who should receive any lump-sum benefits from your pension plan if you pass away.
Why is updating your Expression of Wishes important?
Your pension is more than just a financial plan for your retirement—it's a lasting gift that can provide financial security for your loved ones after you're gone. It’s one of the most significant ways you can continue to care for those who matter most to you, even when you’re no longer there.
By completing an Expression of Wishes form, you have the power to clearly communicate to the Trustee who you want to receive any lump-sum benefits from the Plan when you pass away. These benefits are paid at the Trustee’s discretion so that they aren't currently subject to Inheritance Tax. This means that the Trustee doesn’t legally have to follow your wishes, but they will normally be taken into account.

How to get started
- Access the Gallagher Member Portal webpage to register
- Click ‘First time user?’
- Enter your National Insurance number, date of birth and Unique ID, and select submit
- Choose your login ID and create a strong password
- Enter your contact details and communications preferences

Although your Defined Contribution (DC) benefits are administered by Aviva, Gallagher supports the Dun & Bradstreet Pension Scheme by providing digital services and managing the Scheme’s website as well as administering the Defined Benefit (DB) section of the Scheme.
Gallagher also provides the secure member portal (the Gallagher Member Portal), which allows all deferred members, whether DB or DC, to manage their personal information in one place. For this reason, even as a DC deferred member, you should use the Gallagher Member Portal to update your Expression of Wish and keep your personal details up to date.
